About the event
Just Rituals or “Justice Rituals” is about rituals at the intersection of justice. Until now, there hasn’t been a widely recognized therapy called "African Movement Therapy." However, ancestrally, people of African descent have used movement as therapeutic modalities for centuries. As movement therapy, in general, encompasses a variety of techniques that utilize movement and physical activity to promote psychological, emotional, and physical well-being–including the more mainstream forms of dance therapy, yoga therapy. Restore Forward invites you to learn and move with us using African body-centered therapies, culturally specific somatic experiencing and other body-centered rituals toward healing justice, body sovereignty and body justice, that have existed but remained unrecognized by mainstream society. It’s time to honor and center the just and the multiple rituals we are calling “African Movement Therapies”.
The body holds stories, rhythms, and resistance but movement is the medicine. Step into African Movement Therapy, where Haitian folklore dance meets yoga, breathwork, and the pulse of sound.
Led by Clossiny Sergo & Tracy Viergela Pierre, this workshop taps into the power of motion, sound, and breath to help you release, restore, and reclaim. Through chanting, body tapping, and shaking, we loosen the weight of the world and dance our way back to ourselves.
This is not just a class, it’s a homecoming for the soul. A blueprint for healing through rhythm, rhymes, and roars. A space to restore forward and remember the royalty in our roots. Come as you are, leave as EVERYTHING.
